Many credit card providers offer customers a low interest rate on balance transfers with some offering 0% on balance transfers. A balance transfer allows you to move your outstanding credit card balance from one credit card to another. Most balance transfer cards offer low interest on transfers for a set period, often up to a year. Few providers offer low interest on balance transfers for life of the balance. After the set period expires, interest is charged at the providers normal interest rate. Additional purchases made on these cards are generally charged at standard interest rates too.
